I Love Producing Family Concerts

Concerts at MUSON are usually very formal, serious and rigid. So, thinking about the discussion i had with 'Guchi, concerning his upcoming concert, i started searching for ideas, inspirations, samples, but nothing came. Thankfully, one Saturday, while i went about my weekend chores (with my TV on though, i stumbled on a live performance of Josh Groban. Yes, Josh Groban. I totally loved the calmness, the warmth, the atmosphere and the music. It was more like a family night.
Knowing that 'Guchi is also a Tenor, i thought that we could replicate the idea. I called 'Guchi right there and then and said, "Tune into ..... channel now, i need you to see something and we will discuss afterwards. Thankfully, he was also home and was able t watch it. This made my work easy, and although the original plan was to feature four singer, do the regular thing as was done the previous year, i decided that we should make it his concert and only feature the other singers, to ensure that he is on stage all through.
Watching Josh Groban's performance made music selections easier as well as delivering the works.
The concert was packed, thanks to Guchi's hard work and fame. The delivery was on point, a relaxed and beautiful atmosphere. This made me proud. The very first concert i have in more than one way fostered. My favourite songs performed were 'Amore Musica' and 'I Can Only Imagine'. The selections were perfect for his voice and i saw that all the features artistes, Fatima, Ranti, Debbie, Ifeoma, Vocal Streams and The Theosolites, they all poured their hearts out into the music, selflessly.
Lessons, ideas abound, and even when the funds are not there, reach out to friends, they are rich resources. you do not always have to re-invent the will, others have successfully done such things, let the music and the art come first and let every other package follow.
